Expedia.com - Product Design - Hotel Cancel

Introduction

During my time at Expedia, I was involved in a range of projects, including the design of comprehensive email communication suites and product design.

I collaborated closely with information architects, developers, and copywriters to create a set of enhanced products for the hotel itinerary process.

How I contributed

Design entails helping to structure information, highlighting important aspects, creating a clear order, and attaining visual balance. It acts as a connection, linking companies with their audience.

The design vocabulary includes font sizes and styles, colors, and shapes, all working together to facilitate users' rapid understanding and interaction with crucial components.

The challenge

Throughout the various scenarios presented, my main goal was to ensure that the information remained clear and accessible, regardless of its complexity.

Every airline and airfare has specific rules and fees. It is crucial to provide a transparent explanation of this information to help customers navigate what can be a difficult and stressful process.

Outcome and lessons

While collaborating with an Information architect, I gained valuable insights into information hierarchy and organization. I have consistently emphasized simplicity and strived to maintain focus through the careful selection of font weights and sizes, as well as the strategic use of white space, shapes, and colors.

Various UX and fundamental design principles are used to ensure that customers instinctively understand the crucial steps to follow and where key interactions should occur.
